July 21, 2012
Our boys took on the Rockets at Eric Mobbs reserve. Although the boys were a couple of players down and started the match with 4 and a goalkeeper, they did an exceptional job. Saw some great team work with the ball being fed to the forwards Aiden and Charlie from the defenders Adam, Alex and Rory. Aiden had a great game and was able to score two very cleanly struck goals, Charlie was denied a couple of times by good keeping from the Rocket's keeper. Hayden played in goals for the full game. Superb effort by him to hold out the Rocket's strikers. Alex was strong in defence; always keeping himself between the ball and the goals and tackling hard (but fair). In the latter part of the second half he moved into an attacking midfielder role and instantly created some chances. His around effort and good football vision earning him man of the match. Adam again had a strong defensive game, also spending some time in midfield.
Key learning from this week continues to be the importance I playing your position. Will consider a slight change to positions. Dedicated striker, dedicated sweeper and then the other 4 divided into defensive midfielders and attacking midfielders. Here's hoping Tom is feeling better (unable to play as he was sick).
Very brave effort boys. The 5-2 loss did not tell the tale of the day. I'm proud of you all.
Lastly, a special thanks to Harry Hoff for stepping in a coach whilst I was on holiday.

July 28 vs Rydalmere @ Castle Hill
Man of the Match: Hayden Hoff
This was a spectacular match. The teams are very evenly matched, with the last result a 1-0 win for Rydalmere. The boys played very well for a repeat of that score line.
The first half was scoreless. The boys all held their positions well. Hayden spent the 1st half in goals and made several great saves. In the 2nd half he was a defender and kept several Rydalmere attacking moves at bay. This earned him man of the match.
The learning from this week continues to be "Hold and play your position".

August 4 vs Kellyville @ Bernie Mullane
Score: Kellyville won 3-1
Man of the match: Jaryd
The boys were back at full strength today. Hayden was goalkeeper in the first half and Patrick in the 2nd.
The score appeared a little one sided, but this didn't reflect the closeness of the game. Aiden struck a beautiful goal and he, Charlie and Alex narrowly missed other chances with quality shots at goal.
As ever Adam was very strong in defence. At his first game back since going on holiday Patrick showed great ball control with some bursts down the right sideline in the 1st half. Regularly centering the ball and creating chances.
Tom and Rory both had solid matches, but the stand out this week was Jaryd. As one of the taller boys in the team with a strong kick, Jaryd is a natural defender. He played this role very well this week.
Learning for the week: when bringing the ball forward, focus on passing to an open team mate. Wild kicks forward or trying to hold on to the ball l for too long will more often than not result in an easy handover. Also...."play your position boys."
