Round 1 Match Report
CASTLE HILL UNITED 12/1 VS MERRYLANDS - 4-1
Saturday, 14 April 2012
Welcome back boys! A great start to the season with a win. Our "pocket rocket" Simon played a great game scoring a couple of goals. Mickey "Spikes" too scored as did Noah off a penalty. The boys worked well passing the ball - a great team effort overall - though the boys need to talk to each other more on the field but hope this will only improve as the weeks go by. Congratulations on the win!
Coaches Player: Simon Players Player: Joshua

Round 2 Played Sunday 29th April – Castle Hill U12-1 vs Norwest Cougars - 5-0
The boys backed up from their Sat game against Hills Brumbies and performed well with a 5-nil win against the Norwest Cougars on a cold and windy Sunday. The boys dominated possession early and created a lot of chances but were unable to convert them. Lleyton had some good touches early and was composed at the back. Josh and Noah probably had the best shots on goal in the 1st half and were unlucky not to score. The constant pressure the boys applied and heavy weight of possession led to Simon scoring a goal late in the first half after some good lead up work from the midfield. The backs have been solid in the 3 games to date with Ethan, Aaron and Lleyton repeatedly cutting down opposition raids and if they have managed to get through Ale has been there to save the day always positioning himself well.
The boys came out hungry in the second half and continued the domination of possession The boys played some smart football with Josh, Matt, Noah and Ruben often changing and switching the point of attack and stringing a number of passes together. Jack, Noah & Reece had shots on goal early in the second half and unfortunately could not convert. The weight of possession eventually led to Mikey scoring from a good cross from Jack in the 15th Minute. Mikey followed up with 2 more goals shortly after that to bag a hat trick with the last after some good lead up work from Reece. Reece scored late in the second half after getting onto the end of a good pass from Simon who worked extremely hard down the left wing all day. Player of the match was Mikey and players player was Simon. Well done boys!! Still lots of improvement but a lot to build on after 3 good results.

Round 4 Pplayed Thursday 10th May 2012
North Rocks v Castle Hill United.
The opening of the game started very even with both teams fighting hard to get hold of the ball, but slowly Castle Hill started to have a more of the possession despite a number of players playing in unfamiliar positions, they managed to force a corner from their first real attack, Noah took the corner and delivered it into the penalty box where Simon got a header on target that was saved by the North Rocks goalie. This chance appeared to wake up North Rocks who started to have more of the ball now and Castle Hill had to be aware of them going forward and in turn started to try and break up the attacks and look to hit them on the counter attack which they did well but they were just missing that final quality pass to open up the defence and create a clear opportunity. Castle Hill looked dangerous down the left hand side with Simon and after his good run the ball broke to Noah who had a powerful shot on target that the goalie could only parry, Reece had followed in the shot and hit the rebound on the volley, with the goalie beaten Castle Hill were unlucky and disappointed to see the ball hit the post. The next chance Castle Hill created was from a fantastic pass from Reece that split the defence for Simon but a slight miss-control and the goalie saved at Simon’s feet.
Half Time 0-0.
The second half started with Castle Hill moving players to resemble a more recognizable formation with players in familiar positions that has seen them start well to the season and straight from the kick off they forced a corner which Ethan just failed to get his header on target. The majority of the second half was played in the North Rocks half with good link up play involving Matt, Jack, Aaron and Mikey creating chances but they were unable to get their shots on target. North Rocks started to play counter attacking football now and good strong displays from Ale and Ethan stopped them from taking the lead. In one of the final attacks close to the end of the game Castle Hill got a corner which Jack took he put the resulting corner right on the boot of Macca who connected with the ball superbly on the edge of the 18 yard box but as was the story of the evening the ball flew away from goal giving a final result of a draw.
Full Time 0-0.

Round 5 Played Saturday 12th May 2012
Kellyville v Castle Hill United.
Saturday's game against our bogey team from last year - Kellyville - was always going to be a tough one. After conceding an early goal, anyone at the game would have been forgiven for anticipating the worst. But a cracking equaliser from Reece put us back in the game. That really seemed to lift the boys and they got on top of Kellyville from that point on. Macca equalled Reece's heroic's with a cracker of his own - netting with a volley from the edge of the eighteen. And with Simon getting a third with a nice finish from Jack's cross, we should have gone into the break with a comfrotable two goal cushion. But as so oftern happens in football, that dreaded lapse of concentration set in and Kellyville pulled one back right on the stroke of half-time. So 3-2 at the break and Kellyville were right back in it. In all fairness, Kellyville should have equalised early in the second half when they were awarded a penalty. The resultant spot-kick ricocheted off the cross bar and came ever so close to crossing the line. A little agrieved that the goal wasn't awarded, their boys seemed to lose a bit of focus and that was all we needed to finish off the game. After coming close a few times, Mikey got the winner soon after. The game finished 4-2 - A good win and well-earned three points. Indeed, a brilliant team effort. Ally in goals was as reliable as ever. Ethan, Aaron and Leyton absolutely solid in defence. And Rueben, Josh, Noah, and Jack ran hard and tackled hard in midfield all game. Well done boys ! Now for Baulko !!!

Round 7 Played Sat 19th May
astle Hill U12-1 vs Baulkham Hills - Final Score 2-1
This game saw the top of the table clash with both teams undefeated. Baulkham Hills came out hard and created a number of chances early but the boys defence was solid holding them out. It took until the 15th minute before the boys clicked into gear with some good play resulting in Matt having a shot on goal which sailed wide. The boys started to win the 50/50 balls and constantly pushed the ball wide with Mikey having shots on goal in the 15th,17th and 20th minute but unfortunately none of them were converted and it appeared it was going to be a half of lost chances. Baulkham Hills were dangerous on the counter and came close to converting with the boys having to clear off their lines desperately on a number of occasions. The boys pushed hard for that elusive goal and Simon had a crack after some good lead up play only to hit the post. It appeared it was going to be nil all at half time before the pocket rocket (Simon) made up for it a minute later sending a cracking shot into the back of the net 1 minute from the break. The boys were deserved 1-nil leaders at half time and could have easily been 3 goals up at the break.
The boys started the 2nd half well stringing together 11-12 passes off the kick-off and holding onto possession which was good to watch them playing an attractive style of football. They were the more hungry early and Jack had a opportunity in front of goal to convert but missed. Baulkham Hills then hit back with some good counter attack yet our defence remained rock solid with Ethan calm under pressure in central defence. Reuben clicked into gear and his work rate was excellent in the second half with good runs in attack as well as coming back in defence to assist. Mikey in the striker role played tough constantly putting pressure on the Baulkham Hills defence and was rewarded by causing a turnover after harassing two of the Baulko defenders. He then crossed the ball towards the goal and Simon was on hand to score his 2nd goal in the 11th minute. Mikey & Simon worked together well on the day and are forming a dangerous combination. The boys continued to create chances with some good interchange of passing and Noah had a strike from well outside the box which unluckily hit the post and would have been the goal of the season to date had it gone in. Reuben continued to work hard and demonstrated good skills and touches. The boys had the game well in hand until a momentary lapse late in the second half saw Baulko score a goal.
Player of the match was Mikey and players player was Simon. Well done again boys, keep the momentum going!!

U12 Division 1 Castle Hill Boys Match Report Round 7
Sat 26th May – Castle Hill U12-1 vs Auburn FC
An early game with a 8:30am start and the boys appeared to be lethargic starting very slow. Auburn had the better of the play in the early part of the game creating a few chances and were probably a little unlucky not to score. The boys hit back creating a number of chances in the first half, Jack had a few touches early and crossed the ball across goal on a number of occasions but nobody was on hand to finish. Mikey also had a shot on goal which was saved by the Auburn GK, followed shortly by Matt whose kick missed. Noah also had a shot on goal but also missed after some good lead up play. The boys eventually scored late in the 1st half with Mikey scoring after running onto a through ball using his pace to get past the Auburn backs before pushing it past the Auburn GK. The boys went into the break 1 nil up but probably had their worst half of the season and were guilty of taking the Auburn team lightly. The 2nd half started similarly to the 1st half with the boys not executing their passes early with Reuben and Macca having early turnovers. Things quickly changed though with Josh doing some good work in the midfield to win back possession. Simon started to cause havoc down the left wing beating 4 players before passing across for Noah to send a cracking shot into the back of the net. Once the second goal went in, the boys clicked into gear. They pushed hard resulting in a corner which saw Simon score after Auburn failed to clear the ball of their line. Another goal followed shortly from another corner after Noah put a superb kick in for Ethan to head into the back of the net. Josh continued to work hard in the midfield with his hunger and aggression clear to see. Simon continued to dominate down the left side and scored after Macca put a good pass through and the pocket rocket did the rest. The boys dominated possession and scored again shortly after the ball was switched to the right side to Jack who did some excellent work to beat players and pass across to Noah in the midfield who then crossed towards goal with Simon on hand to get his hat trick. The boys then started to play some good football being patient and passing it back then across the entire back line on a number of occasions with Reuben, Aaron & Lletyon getting involved in switching the point of attack. Reuben displayed his versatility playing in the backs for most of the game doing a solid job. The boys scored two more goals in the second half with Matt and Josh getting onto the scoresheet. Josh goal came just before fulltime and was a good reward as he worked hard throughout the whole match. End result Castel Hill 10, Auburn 0. Player of the match was Simon and players player was Macca.

U12 Division 1 Castle Hill Boys Match Report
Sat 2nd June – Castle Hill U12-1 vs Granville Rage - Final Score 11-0 The boys reversed their sluggish start from last week and hit the ground running against Granville rage. The Granville team must have wondered what hit them with the boys creating numerous chances early which led to Matt scoring a hat trick within the first 10 minutes (yes you read correctly). The boys outperformed Granville in all aspects of the game being more skilful, physical, faster, as well as dominating possession. Reece performed well showing his versatility playing in an unfamiliar position in right back, Jack had some good touches and showed some good skills in controlling difficult passes and Ruben looked dangerous in space. They boys played some good football and by the completion of the first half 2 more goals had been scored with Macca and Mikey also getting onto the scoresheet. The coaches strategy of having the wingers playing wide proved too much of a challenge for the Granville team. Any long balls played through or wide led to goal scoring opportunities. If the boys converted the other goal scoring opportunities with Matt missing a sitter in front of goal and Mikey and Simon also missing on a couple of occasions, the score could have been anything. Despite this, the boys were well in control, totally dominating the 1st half and went into the break 5 nil up. The second half saw the coaches make a number of positional changes with Ale (goalkeeper) given an opportunity in the striker role with Noah & Josh sharing the GK duties for the second half. Ruben And Reece started well in the second half playing some smart football by putting some good passes into space for the wingers to take advantage of. The domination led to a corner with Matt bagging his fourth goal of the match. The boys continued to play long and wide balls leading to Jack having a goal scoring opportunity which the GK saved. The boys pressure was relentless and soon after, Simon scored doing his usual stuff, beating players and converting. The Granville team then created their best chance of the game after some good interchange of passing in the middle of the park caught our midfield and backs off guard. Their striker appeared to be on his way to score but Ethan was on hand to get his foot onto the ball in the last second, taking the ball of the Granville striker. Ale looked sharp up front and made a long run with the ball after a pass was made up the middle of the park to score a great goal. Matt then had another opportunity in front of goal after some good lead up work from Aaron and Jack, but unfortunately could not convert. The boys continued to play wide with Jack having a lot of space to move. Jack was rewarded with a goal after also sustaining a long run, beating the backs then finishing well to beat the Granville GK. The goal of the match came shortly after that with Mikey making one of his customary runs outpacing the Granville backs. He looked set to score but was fouled from behind. Ruben then took the penalty kick from outside the box and sent a cracking kick into the back of the net!! Coaches, i think you have found your dead ball specialist. Jack then scored the final goal of the match after some good lead up work from the midfield. The boys totally dominated in all aspects of the game. Possession football was probably an area that the boys could have executed better when dominating on the score board but confidence is high in the team and a number of boys were given opportunities in unfamiliar positions and all performed well. Final score was 11 – 0. Well done boys!! Player of the match was clear being Matt after his four goals and players players was Reece.

U12 Division 1 Castle Hill Boys Match Report
Sat 9th June – Castle Hill U12-1 vs Wenty Waratahs With our GK and Josh absent, the coaches made a number of positional changes with Noah & Lleyton sharing the GK duties and Reece and Ruben starting in the midfield. The boys started the match strongly controlling possession with Jack and Ruben working together well executing some good interchange of passing. The early domination of possession led to Mikey having a shot on goal in the 9th minute which missed. The boys continued to dominate possession with the majority of the play down the right side and the constant pressure led to Macca scoring in the 12th minute. The boys seemed to lose their composure after that with the backs making a number of defensive errors with Aaron and Ethan’s execution, communication and decision making lacking. The boys went into the break 1 nil up but had an off first half with poor execution & decision making leading to numerous turnovers. The 2nd half commenced with Wenty coming out hard creating 2 early chances and were unlucky not to score. The backs still appeared of their game with Aaron & Ethan making some uncustomary errors which luckily did not cost them. The midfield worked hard with Ruben, Macca and Jack forming a triangle, playing some good football stringing a number of passes together amongst traffic and maintaining possession. After repelling a number of raids from Wenty the boys clicked into gear. Mikey, Matt & Simon combined to score a great goal with Simon finishing with his lethal left boot. Ethan finished off the second half well clearing of the line on a number of occasions. U12 Division 1 Castle Hill Boys Match Report
Vs Kellyville Sat 21st July It was a cold Saturday and Kellyville on their home ground started hungry creating early chances and shots on goal which missed. Both teams played well and created chances with play going from end to end. Ruben looked dangerous up front with his aggression and direct runs constantly causing headaches for the Kellyville defence leading to him scoring 2 goals in the 1st half. Josh was strong in the midfield often causing turnovers then passing to players in space. The defence was also solid with Aaron having a solid first half. The boys took a 2 – nil lead into the break. The boys totally dominated the 2nd half with early possession resulting in 3 corners which Kellyville successfully defended. Simon scored the goal of the match after some beautiful football and interchange of passing between Simon, Matt & Ruben saw Simon get in behind the Kellyville defence to finish. It would be good to see the boys develop this style of football a bit more as they have the speed and strength to match any team in the comp. The backs defended well with Lleyton, Ethan & Aaron working together well to repel any Kellyville raids. Final score 3 nil win to Castle Hill. Player of match was Aaron and players player Simon.

U12 Division 1 Castle Hill Boys Match Report
Vs Merrylands Sun 22nd July The boys backed up from the Sat game on a cold and rainy Sunday to play a makeup game against Merrylands. They were up against it before kickoff being a player down and against a Merrylands team which came out hungry dominating the early play playing the better football and were unlucky not to convert. Against the run of play, a long through ball saw Ruben make one of his customary direct runs and cross to Mikey to finish. The possession then started to even up which led to more goal scoring opportunities. Ale played right wing and had some good touches and passages of play. The possession led to a corner and Mikey converting to get his second goal. Even with a player short the boys started to dominate with Aaron and Ale combining well down the right side. Merrylands hit back with a goal late in the 1st half after a penalty was given for a hand ball and Merrylands successfully kicked the penalty getting past Noah. The boys went into the break 2-1 up. The boys started the 2nd half well and an early corner saw their 3rd goal after an own goal from a corner which rebounded off a Merrylands defender and into the goal. The boys looked comfortable controlling possession and should have finished the match off with Ruben, Mikey & Josh all having scoring opportunities which were all near misses. Mikey worked hard often coming back to assist in defence. Fatigued kicked in and the boys struggled in the latter of the second half with Merrylands pushing hard and scoring off a corner. The boys held on courageously with the final score a 3-2 win. Players of match was Mikey & players player was Noah.
