The sunshine was kind on Saturday as we got our first run as a team. It was a big game against an older and bigger team, Castle United’s U15 division 3 side.
Our team showed a lot of heart and surely would have made their parents proud. Having the 2C’s up front as strikers, Charan on the left and Cedric on the right, they attacked the opposition’s defence and proved to be a handful for the U15s. Our goal came from a deflected shot from Cedric after working his way from the right flank. Our midfield was impressive, often giving the other team a lot of grief as they begin to mount an attacking run. Any form of attacking runs by the opponent was usually met by a big winning tackle from Rhys, he was everywhere and even made perfect sliding tackle in the second half. Jake was busy skilfully threading passes to his strikers which would have been agitating the other teams defenders. Now with our 2Ds, Daniel Faroughi and Daniel Taheri completing our midfield, their hard work paid off often combining to put a stop to attempts by their counterparts to formulate an attack to our defensive line. At the centre of our defense was Nathan who worked tirelessly keeping attacking players from reaching his goalie and maybe even sneaking a brotherly tackle or two against Daniel his brother in the U15s. Nathan was flanked by Albert and Sarfraz, they were outstanding in marshalling our defensive line. Behind our defenders was Kundan who was cleaning up all loose balls and sweeping it out of the danger zone. Last but definitely not the least was Trent, he was simply brilliant in goals. It would have been a different score line thanks to Trent’s anticipation, composure and reflexes.
The work that our boys have displayed in this game against an imposing team has to be commended. Based on this game we can certainly look forward to a great season ahead.
In the end the score line was 1 – 4 with the U15s winning the trial game.
