31/3/2012 Trial Match Report
What a great team we have. We were amazed at how well the boys played as a team today. Really well placed during the first half, the boys played open football that allowed them to pass the ball around and make room for themselves scoring 3 goals in the first half. A little confusion at the start of the second half with position, my fault, and we were not quite as good, bunching up, however the boys still managed to score goals. To their credit, the boys organised themselves, despite my best efforts to disorganise them, and come the last quarter, the team was back to open passing football. Everyone has obviously been listening to Dave and Mark at training, as the combination passing plays, pass ¡V run on ¡V receive worked a treat to put the team into numerous attacking positions and I lost count of the number of shots on goals. Nathan and Matty did really well in goals as well as on the field. Ryan up front with Matty, Jack and Blake worked well together and picked up a number of well placed through balls from the halves, Gerhardt, James and Varun. Julian stamped his position up the front in the final minutes showing great individual skills as well as great team play. Jake on the left wing dominated the opposition as usual scoring 3 goals (he says 4) one of which was a penalty. (let someone else have a shot ƒº). Alex showed his versatility moving from the backs to the left wing when Jake was off, showing our other lefty will be a great asset to the team. Nelish and Mark are a great defensive combination and Patrick has shown he has the skills to beat all comers. Finally, Tarik on the right wing scored a spectacular goal from outside the box with a soaring curve ball over the top of everything but the crossbar. Nothing but net. A great game from a very new team. Looks like the boys are coming together as a team really quickly and that means great things for the upcoming season. Remember that we were playing our 11/2 team and that the other clubs 1st teams will be much harder to beat, so practice, practice, practice.

14/4/2012 Round 1 Match vs Baulkham Hills
Not the game we wanted today. Baulkham Hills were just too good, out playing us in all areas. We need to get hungrier for the ball and the win and dominate the play by being first to the ball, understanding the limits of our own players kicking and trowing abilities. We also need to remember our positions on the field and use our width to open the game up with strong positive passes to each other. We need to work out a way to sub our players on and off without upsetting our team organisation. Overall, each player had moments of brilliance during the game. Matty made a number of great saves during the game and without him the score would have been well into double figures. We also had some positives in attack and probably should have had at least a couple of goals for our efforts. Our first game of the season, was a bit deflating, however, it was against what looks like the top team in the competition. So we now have a feel for what we are in for, for the rest of the season. If we want to win, we need to play like winners.

28/4/2012 Round 3 Match vs Auburn
Well that’s Football for you. The CHU 11/1’s were the better team on the day, however, the score reflects a few silly mistakes that’s part of the game called Football. The team played much better this week and played as a team. The goal scored brilliantly by Jack was supported by the great lead up by Jake up the side line to deliver a cross the resulted in the first goal of the match. Great defence from Varun and Alex supported by Patrick, Mark and Nathan kept the ball at the right end of the field. James and Gerhardt were made to cover a large portion of the centre of the field in order to feed out forwards. Jake, Tarik and Nelish on the wings used the sidelines well with great dribbling runs and crosses giving the team many opportunities. Ryan, Matty and Jake up the front did a great job and had a number of opportunities to score. Blake did very well as goalie and saved a number of well-placed scoring attempts by the other team. Overall, a much better performance from the team. We need to minimise our mistakes and every team member needs to develop more willingness to fight for the ball and get it into the back of the oppositions net. Greig

Match Report Rnd 2 28/4/2012 CHU VS CHRSL
A much better CHU 11/1 team played today. Luck is still not on our side, but it will come. Everyone played really well today. Especially in the first half CHU were the better team but for an unlucky own goal we were one down at half time. Playing a more defensive line up to counter what we knew were one of the best teams in the comp, worked today. Alex, Vaurn, James and Nelish worked very well together countering many of CHRSL’s attacking plays and we effectively kept them out. Tarik, Gerhardt, Blake and Jake in the middle assisted our defensive line up as well as making some well-orchestrated attacking plays with our forwards, Ryan and Matty. We had a number of opportunities to score in the first half but due to CHRSL’s well drilled players, we were kept scoreless. At the start of the second half with Patrick and Nathan positioned in the backs and forwards respectively, we began, as usual in some degree of disarray. We have some difficulties switching on in the second half. Somehow, we survived and when things finally settled down some good midfield play saw Blake make a break and feed the ball onto Nathan who smashed the ball into the back of the net to even the scores Unfortunately, we were unable to maintain our momentum, mainly due to great pressure from CHRSL who were playing much better this half. Another defensive misfortune gave CHRSL a Penalty goal kick which they converted and a great long range shot put them 3-1 up. A much better performance from all players gave us a much better result than in our previous 2 games. The boys are slowly getting to understand each other and once they trust each other and know intuitively where their team mates are on the field the skills they already have will turn into wins on the field. Well done, we are getting closer to that first win of the season. Remember; As a Team we win, as individuals we lose. Let’s play as a team and win.

What a great game for the team. We had all 15 players on deck this week and every single player received Man of the Match. Too bad we didn’t have 15 trophies. They should all be very proud of themselves as everyone played as a member of a team and the 4-0 result showed that’s the way to play Football. From the get-go, the team applied all their training to the match, well done Dave and Mark, not letting the Rage have enough of the ball to mount any decisive attacks. The line-up of defenders and all of their efforts to keep the ball up the right end of the field gave Patrick the perfect Goalie game. Patrick barley had to touch the ball, but on the occasions he did, he was positive and made sure nothing got through. Alex and Varun had great games stopping any potential attacks early. Building our defensive line-up saw Ryan making a name for himself in this new position, well done. Nelish, as always was a terrier, and must be one of the most frustrating players for the opposition to play against, he just never gives up. Blake and Marky subbed in at half time taking over key roles in the defensive line and simply took over where the others left off, showing the depth that the team is developing in all players. Jake and Jack on the wings were both well-disciplined in the way they worked with the backs passing and running onto balls just like they do at training making it look easy. James and Gerhardt in the middle of the field covered all the gaps left by the Rage and constantly fed balls up the side, through the middle, and just giving the forwards and wings every opportunity to strike at the Rage goal, which happen often. Matty and Julian started the game off in the forwards and with Julian doing a great job after a nasty bout of the flue, worked together to setup our first goal, finished off by a well-directed boot from Matty. Jake was next to take advantage of the pressure being applied to the Rage by our team scoring our second goal in the 16th minute of the game. Nathan and Blake come into the side in the second half and were immediately a force. Blake taking over from Varun and doing a sterling job to keep the ball up the right end of the field. Nathan, having found his spot in the forward line, was a real annoyance to the Rage goalie always putting him under pressure and was unlucky not to score himself. At the 35 minute mark, Marky popped a bomb from way out and totally surprised the Rage goalie, a spectacular individual goal. Not to be outdone, however, Jack and Tarik combined to deliver the final goal for the match. With Jake coming up from the right wing, a perfectly weighted cross was read perfectly by Tarik who simply needed to direct the ball into the back of the goal. This last goal showed how the boys are beginning to read the play, they are looking around and seeing their team mates and making great judgements as to where they are going, and where they need to be. This is great for the future of the team and we only need to keep it up. The 4-0 score line was not a reflection of the possibilities of the score that could have been. Notables with shots on goal were, Julian, Matty, Jake and Jack. Gerhardt and James had numerous shots each and were robbed of a result. Even our backs got into the act from long range showing that the overall depth of the team that is emerging. The most positive note I noticed throughout the game was the lack of frustration from Dave. We all know he is harder on himself than anyone and is enormously competitive and hates to lose and the team rewarded Dave today with a deserved win for all the effort he and Mark put into the boys at training. Let’s hope this is the first of many wins.

12/5/2012 Match Report CHU-2 vs Rouse Hill Rams-1 Great win today. Julian, was awarded our man of the match today, not because h scored our two goals, but because he never gave up, attacked the ball, and in doing so, gave himself the chances to score the two team goals. Well done. Absolutely everyone played extremely well today. Nelish was missed, however, Marky stood up and filled Nelishes [position brilliantly. Varun and Ryan have now formed a dominant rear guard defensive team, and are almost impenetrable. Patrick had a great game on the right back position playing against a difficult attacking Rams player. I often caught the two of them shouldering each other for position even when they were not on the ball, that’s good football. Gerhardt and Blake played the middle of the field really well this week, with Gerhard, in particular seemingly covering 80% of the field but somehow always covering his position. Blake is a great utility player and being able to play him virtually anywhere on the field is a great bonus to the team. Jack and Tarik played the wings in the first half, and with the majority of play concentrated on the right of the field, Tarik was kept very busy and made some very good penetrating runs and off loaded the ball to team mates well. Jack then had to play a semi third centre mid position and as usual, just never stopped running and really annoying the opposition. Just what we want him and every player to do all game, every game. Julian and Nathan teamed up well together in the forwards and with the wind behind us we need to take advantage of the added momentum. Our first goal, at the 16th minute resulted from a great clearance kick from James who used the wind to get the ball almost to half way. Tarik read the ball flight well and controlled it through the Rams defences and with a superbly timed pass, Julian was able to finish off with a beautifully timed shot into the back of the net, A great team goal, from one end of the field to the other. At the 16 minute mark, Julian teamed up with jack who deftly maneuverer the ball through the Rams defences, found Julian who then slammed the ball into the back of the net. Another great team goal. James played a full game in goals, not his favourite position, but did a great job, reading the play well and only conceding one goal after some scrappy play from the Rams and a ball in the face to rub it in. Our sub’s today did a great job when entering into the play. Matty had a really good second half playing against the wind making difficult to move forward. Jake had an immediate impact on the left had side of the field in his favourite position and made a number of breaks up the side line but was unfortunate not to change the score line. Alex also slipped into his favoured spot as left back and combined with Jake to push the ball towards the Rams end of the field consistently. We now need to keep this momentum going for the next few weeks. The boys are really coming together as a team and everyone can see the progress that they are making under the guidance of Dave with Marks assistance. I’d like to commend all the boys for their understanding of the time off the field and we know that each of them would love to be able to play for the full 50 minutes but this is impossible. Patrick, for example, was playing really well today, but was not feeling at all well and called himself off at half time. He knew he could not give the team 100% and elected to sit off. Hope you’re feeling better Patrick, well done. Dave is doing a great job keeping the team as strong as needed at all times on the field and at the same time juggling as near as we can get it, equal time for all players. A great win today and the start of a climb up the ladder. After today’s win we should be sitting in 6th position up from 8th now and last a week ago. A very difficult starting draw has not helped us at all. Granville Rage had a bye today and will also have 6 points like us but have only scored 4 goals against our 8 goals. Pendle Hill only have 2 goals and I doubt that they will soccer 7 goals today. It will take some time to haul in RSL, Baulkham Hills and Auburn but we should be much closer to the top 4 by mid-season. We meet the Brumbies in the last game of the first round after a bye and if we can give them some hurry up, we might just make them worried. Again, well done and looking forward to having some great fun on the field for all the boys in the team.

19-5-2012 CHU 11/1 Match Report Just one of those frustrating games where the score line could have been so different. We had the majority of the position for the entire game and the boys peppered the goals constantly. The deciding factor that dictated the result was Lidcombe’s goalie. He certainly got a heap of practice in and to his credit stopped all but one from a well-directed strike from Julian. Any one of the fifty plus shots we had on goals could have gone in, and in the end the score line was probably a fair one. We didn’t play our best game and on reflection we play much better when the pace is faster with more pressure put on the boys. At first, we thought it was our boys who were flat and looked lethargic on the field, however, in reality, Lidcombe slowed the pace of the game down and we didn’t get the chance to bring up to our pace. Something we need to learn. Overall, we had a fair game. What we need was a great game but that’s Soccer. Sometimes it just doesn’t go the way the play of the ball goes. So let’s learn from this and next time make all the hard work count. Congratulations to all players. Everyone contributed to the result and a draw is far better than a loss. Let’s come out firing next week and make up for it with a win.

A very close match. The boys played very well all game and Pendle Hill displayed great skills all over the field that threatened to break our defences on numerous occasions. Our back line held however, and the group of Marky, Patrick, Nelish, Varun and Ryan worked very well together clearing the ball from potential scoring attempts. Ryan, in particular had a great defensive game and working with Varun made sure no one was getting through. Jake had goalie duties this week and had a great game, saving a number of well-placed attempts on our goal mouth. He was, however, up to the task with nothing getting through. With Gerhardt off this week, the mid-fielders showed that they can play in unfamiliar positions and still be effective. Blake and Alex should have some sort of telepathy and it showed on the field as they passed the ball back and forwards between each other, as I’m sure they do in their sleep. Jack was everywhere in the middle, defending and assisting in attacks. Tarik played well on the wing with good penetration, with James taking over in the second half with equally good effect. Our forwards, Matty, Nathan and Julian just couldn’t penetrate through to the goals. Pendle Hills defence was as good as ours and in some way the resulting nil all draw was a fair result.
